“Thank you for your service” brings Veteran mental health into the spotlight. Alpha-Stim can help.

Moviegoers have long been drawn to stories of uniformed heroes, flocking to films like Saving Private Ryan and The Hurt Locker, American Sniper and Platoon, and everything in between.

Thank You For Your Service, which premiered in October 2017 and is now available on DVD and Blu-ray, provides a harshly realistic glimpse into the post-war lives of soldiers returning home after serving in Iraq. The movie is authentic not only in its storyline but in its casting – for one scene, director Jason Hall “rounded up 165 actual veterans to play their disgruntled selves,” according to an interview in “Task and Purpose.”

The portrayal of the mental health of the soldiers is bleak. They grapple with the hallmark symptoms of PTSD, including sleep disturbances, depression, and anxiety; one soldier dies by suicide. It is a stark contrast to those films in which audiences are uplifted by triumphs on the battlefield.

This somber tone was the mission of the director; says Hall, “I hope veterans feel represented here.  I hope they take away from this that someone cared enough to get it right, and to tell their story.  Not the story of the…superheroes, but of the everyman working-class warrior, who sacrifices so much and who by and large feels…misunderstood.”

The mental toll of serving in the military is real. Fortunately, there is help. Alpha-Stim is an FDA cleared treatment for the depression, anxiety, and insomnia that can follow so many veterans home.  It carries no risk of addiction and combats symptoms without medication.  Alpha-Stim allows soldiers to continue mission, and continue living.
