It is said by the sellers in our country that a person suffering from anxiety, depression and insomnia can be cured within 4 to 6 months just by doing the device twice every day. But after seeing the instruction papers which say that during the first two or three weeks we patients should do it once or twice every day, and after two or three works, we patients should do it every other day, I doubt that whether we were doing it too frequently. When I tried to do it twice every day, I found that my condition was getting worse,being more nervous and anxious so that I followed what was said in the instruction papers. So my first question here is whether it does harm to a patient if we do it too frequently and what is the side effect? And my second question is whether the device is so effective? I have done the device for nearly a year and the result that comes of it is only my medicine being cut down by two thirds and I still have symptoms. So I wonder the device is really so effective. Can any of you answer my question?

We recommend using the Alpha-Stim daily for 20 to 60 minutes until significant results are noticed (usually 3 to 4 weeks), then reducing treatment to every other day. There is however, no harm in wearing the Alpha-Stim for longer duration.
When someone reports that using the Alpha-Stim actually increases their anxiety it is usually because they have the current set to high. You always want to have the current set at a comfortable level, just below any feeling of vertigo or rocking motion.
Being able to reduce your medications by 2/3 is a huge achievement as most medications carry with them significant side effect profiles. The most common adverse effects with the Alpha-Stim are headache and skin irritation at the electrode site. These are rare, mild, and self-limiting. Of course, always consult your physician when reducing your medications.
