How it works

Pain, mood conditions (like anxiety and depression), and insomnia are all controlled by your body’s central nervous system. The billions of individual cells that comprise the nervous system communicate every sensation by conducting electrochemical signals between the cells in your body and brain.

Your moods and emotions, including anxiety, insomnia and depression, are controlled through electrochemical signals in your brain. When these signals aren’t functioning properly, the hormones and neurotransmitters that regulate your emotions can become unbalanced.

By modulating the body and brain’s electrochemical signals, you can safely and effectively relieve pain, improve mood conditions such as anxiety and depression, and experience better sleep.

Most people experience significant relief after a single treatment. The body accommodates to pharmaceutical drugs over time. This can never happen with Alpha-Stim! Alpha-Stim’s effect is cumulative, meaning each treatment is potentially more and more effective—and you can decrease use after time.

First responder study

First responders are already experiencing the Alpha-Stim difference. As part of a 6-week study, roughly 150 police officers, sheriff’s officers, and firefighters used Alpha-Stim to combat stress, and experienced a significant decrease in anxiety, insomnia, depression, pain, and stress.

Chief Richard Biehl of Dayton, Ohio acknowledges the immense stress that comes with being a police officer, and the importance of managing stress properly to avoid burnout, negative effects on mental and physical health, and poor decision-making on the job. “I can’t think of a more trying time to be in policing than in more of these recent years,” he says. “With all the complex roles for police officers dealing with arrest to domestic terrorism to active shooters.”

If you or others in your department are stressed and suffering from anxiety, insomnia, depression, or pain, Alpha-Stim can help. Backed by decades of experience and over 100 independent clinical research trials, we’ve proven time and time again that – just like you – we are experts at what we do.

Radio Interview: Dayton Police Using Brain Stimulation To Reduce Stress

A third of Dayton’s police force is part of a pilot study to reduce stress using brain stimulation. One hundred  officers are now in the fourth week of a six-week study for the therapy, already proven effective in both civilians and military.

Chief Richard Biehl knows his department is under a lot of stress and he says if that stress is not managed properly, potential outcomes can include burnout and poor performance and decision making in the wake of difficult circumstances.

“I can’t think of a more trying time to be in policing than in more of these recent years,” he says. “With all the complex roles for police officers dealing with arrest to domestic terrorism to active shooters.”

ABC News: Dayton officers using technology to treat stress, anxiety, PTSD

In the 30 years Gregory Moyer has been a police officer, he’s seen a lot, “things that come back to haunt you.” He’s a detective with Forensic Services at the Dayton Police Department and is one of 100 officers taking part in a study about stress reduction.

Moyer first learned about the study during a Fraternal Order of Police meeting. The Dayton Police Department had been approached by the company that created the Alpha-Stim, a device that emits electrotherapy. After hearing the presentation, Moyer went home and signed up for it.

Dayton police take part in ‘stress-reduction’ study

For about 20 minutes to an hour every other day, about 100 Dayton police officers connect wet-clip electrodes from cell-phone-sized devices to their ear lobes, sending gentle electrical signals through their brains.

The hoped-for results: Less stress, better sleep — and a better life.

For almost a month, Dayton police officers have been part of a study examining the use of the devices meant to ease stress among first-responders, a Texas company has announced with the city of Dayton.
